PNB LBO Notification 2026: Vacancies, Eligibility & Selection Process

Punjab National Bank has released its Local Bank Officer (LBO) recruitment notification for 750 vacancies spread across various states. A key eligibility requirement is proficiency in the local language of the state applied for.

Key Highlights

  • Selection is conducted in four phases, with the online written exam consisting of 150 objective questions covering reasoning, data analysis, quantitative aptitude, English language, and general/banking awareness.
  • Vacancies are distributed state-wise and category-wise; candidates must also meet nationality, age, educational qualification, and work-experience norms.
  • Eligible nationalities include Indian citizens as well as certain categories such as subjects of Nepal/Bhutan and Tibetan refugees who arrived before 1 January 1962, subject to eligibility certificates.
  • Only qualified candidates from the written exam proceed to the interview stage; final selection weighs the written exam more heavily.

Salary

Starting basic pay of ₹48,480/month under JMGS-I, rising to ₹85,920/month, along with DA, HRA, CCA, and other allowances.

Status Update

The written exam was held on 4 January 2026, and the result has since been declared — 352 candidates were provisionally shortlisted for the Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) and Interview round, scheduled between 2–5 May 2026 at the Staff Training Centre, Panchkula.

Final Result Declared

Punjab National Bank has since gone a step further and released the PNB LBO Final Result 2026 on 23 June 2026. The final merit list carries the names, roll numbers, and registration numbers of 205 candidates who have received a provisional offer of appointment as Local Bank Officers in Scale I. The bank has clarified that the joining schedule and further formalities will be communicated separately to selected candidates through official channels only.

Application Process (For Reference / Future Cycles)

Candidates typically need to visit the official website, complete new registration with valid contact details, fill in personal, educational, and category information, upload the required scanned documents (photograph, signature, and any category-specific certificates), preview the completed form carefully, and pay the application fee online before final submission. Once submitted, no changes are allowed, so applicants are advised to verify every detail — especially their name, date of birth, and category — against their original certificates before hitting the final submit button.

Safety Advisory

In its result communication, PNB has cautioned candidates to save multiple copies of any result PDF, cross-check roll and registration numbers carefully since similar names can cause confusion, monitor their registered email (including the spam folder) and keep their mobile number active, and avoid paying money to anyone claiming to guarantee a job offer. The bank does not charge any fee for interviews, selection, or appointment, and candidates should ignore unofficial joining dates circulated on social media or through unverified sources.

Selection Weightage

For candidates who qualify the Local Language Proficiency Test, the final merit list is prepared using the combined scores of the online written examination and the personal interview, with the written test typically carrying a heavier weightage in the overall evaluation. Candidates who do not clear the LLPT, even after qualifying the written exam, are not considered for further stages, which makes local language preparation just as important as the technical and reasoning sections for aspirants applying to states with an unfamiliar regional language.
